When I hit age 25, my metabolism rebelled against me and those little, lucious Dove dark chocolates I snuck while teaching my kindergarten class found a perment place on my gut. I knew I had to do something. So, I started jogging, not long, but it was more than what I was doing before. With a little help from Trimspa, and just creating a more healthy lifestyle for myself, I lost about 30 pounds in 3 months, just in time for a cruise to the Caribean. It was great. I felt confident, I enjoyed eating salads, and I got to shop for new clothes.
Then the fertilty treatments started. Dr. S. told me to stop jogging, my eggs could literally fall out of my basket, lessening the chance for obtaining eggs to create embyros. OK, I can still walk, just take a quick, brisk pace. But then the three daily injections had started to cause a shooting pain every time I took a step. I couldn't stop walking, life demands that I move around, plus my dogs would kill me. But I certainly wasn't walking briskly anymore. I could feel myself slow down. Crazy schedules left room for McDonald's for breakfast, stressed called for hot fudge sundaes.
With the blessed pregancy came incredible cravings for double cheeseburgers. And then the bedrest happened. Want to lose all desire for any movement, lay on a couch for 2 months. By week 5, you just don't care about moving, becuase you know you can't anyway. I had a yoga instructor tell me that I could do certain types of stretching while on bedrest. I wished I had listened to her. But it was too late. Climbing up stairs was even to hard for me. My lack of exercise halted me to a complete stop.
Fast forward after having Wyatt. I was renewed. I could get up without contractions, and I was ready to get back to my old self. I tried jogging, but lost the desire I had for it before. Though I wasn't terribly strict with my diet, I did lose all of my "baby'weight." But over time, I lost my drive to eat well, and exercise. Who knows, that could be the cause of my thyroid problem OR my thyorid problem may have contributed to the problem.
So fast forward to me now, playing with Wyatt at the park, when all of a sudden I hear him say, "I have to go potty!" There's a not a potty to be found. What do I do with a recently potty trained 3 year old boy and his full bladder? Run! I threw him in the stroller and we ran all the way to our house. Just a fraction of the distance I used to run, is now killing me. I realized how out of shape I have become. By the time we got home (in dry underwear, I might add) my heart was popping out of my chest and I was ready to collapse. I knw I should do something, to be healthier, but the weak lazy person inside me just says, "Why, when that roller coaster of jogging, no jogging, shots, and bed rest, is just around the corner. And with I leave you to eat yet another girl's scout cookie!

I could have written this post, in many respects. I began taking oral Prometrium in December 2004 when we began trying for Ainsley. Fast forward almost 8 months later, with one miscarriage stuck in there for kicks (after 2 earlier ones) and then newly pregnant with Ainsley. I was MORTIFIED I would do something to mess that pregnancy up, so I sat. And sat. And sat. From December until pregnant with her, I gained 25 pounds and while I only gained about 30 pounds while pregnant with her, I got pregnant 25 pounds heavier than I wanted and should have been.
I lost the 30 pounds with her right away, but fluctuated up and down. I joined WW in October 2007, lost almost 25 pounds by the end of the year, and began trying for #2. NOW fast forward to 15 months later and I have been on progesterone the entire time after ovulation (which helps me carry extra pounds, darn medication), no baby, and thanks to the Cupcakery, pure laziness, and a crappy schedule, I weigh what I did during my 2nd trimester with her. I suck, but have no desire to lose it until I know how this month turned out for us. If it is a no, then I am joining WW again.
The worst thing: clothes that are too tight and sluggishness. How was the thyroid doctor's visit?
