- Walk in, surrounded by old people, all staring at me as if to wonder, "What in the world is that young whipper snapper doin' here?"
- They got me in so fast that I didn't even have time to finish my paper work. Impressive.
- Nurse weighs me (so gross) and sticks me in a room. Tick tock, tick tock.
- Very, very young doctor enters the room. I swear to you he graduated from med school yesterday. Soft spoken, nervous to ask questions. I'm thinking, "Good heavens! Do not tell me I waited a month and a half to see YOU! The real Thyroid doc better walk through that door RIGHT NOW!"
- Baby thyroid doc leaves.
- REAL thyroid doc comes in with baby thyroid doc. Nerdy guy that likes to talk in big medical terms, head of the endo...blah blah blah department at UMC. I realize he's not talking to me in big medical terms, he's actually teaching baby doc. All right, cool, whatever.
- My neck is examined, he has me kick things, push things, swallow things. He talks in more big medical terms.
- BOTTOM LINE: I'm on a pill everyday that, I kid you not, looks EXACTLY LIKE MY DOG'S THYROID MEDS! What's up with that? I take it for 6 weeks, have another blood test and see thyroid doc again. When asked about going into the fertility clinic in May, he said very unlikely, but I'd be good to go by the summer. I'll have to be on this FOREVER! Oh well!
- Other interesting points: thyroid problems can lead to extremely dry skin and constipation (I know, TMI, but I found it fascinating). By looking at blood results from 2005 when I was having treatments to have Wyatt, there was a thyroid problem then too, just not as pronounced. So I've been dealing with this for a while now and never knew it.
So there's the scoop. Not a big deal. We'll see what happens!

Oh yeah sweetie! Tell me about it- I take the pill once a day too and will probably be on it FOREVER too! Don't know what your dogs thyroid medicine looks like but if it almost looks like a flouride tablet then mines the same. I have to go get more blood work done at the end of April to make sure the dosing is still good. Good luck with your thyroid...it actually does seem to help with a lot of things. Although I didn't know about the dry skin and stuff. Later girl!
