A couple of years ago, I got myself into the habit of saying a quick prayer in my car before leaving for work, just to help the day start on a positive note. These prayers were especially helpful if the morning had already been stressful. It was a good way to leave the morning stress behind, converse with my Heavenly Father about what I needed help with that day, and to move on the the next task.
This past week has been extremely stressful. Swim lessons 8:40 AM every day, a missing husband who was camping on a Utah mountain side, four doctor appointments, assembling 25 handmade bracelets and containers for them, a camp banner to touch up and complete, numerous trips to Target and the 99 cent store, AND trying to remember which G-ma I left Wyatt with. Needless to say, we started every car trip with a prayer. Because of the subject matter of the prayers, I would quietly pray to myself, even though Wyatt was in the car. But I soon realized that I must have been vocal in my prayers. One morning we began our car trip and I did not stop to say a prayer. Wyatt corrected me immediately and informed me that I had forgotten prayer time. So I stopped and I was happy to hear that Wyatt wanted to say the prayer. We bowed our heads and I heard Wyatt imitate an extremely weeping and dramatic sounding voice as he'd pray. In a shaky, fake-tearful voice Wyatt would say, "Dear Heavenly Father, please (sniff, sniff) help us this day (sniff). Help us to make it through this day (sniff, sniff)." Blah, blah, blah, you get the point. As I'm sitting there, trying not to laugh from Wyatt's award winning dramatic monologue, I realized, "Oh you poor child! You
are going to end up with a therapist and blame your whole entire life on me! Every time you say a prayer in a car, you're going to think it is required to cry while doing so!"
So, I think I better find a more private place to pray, which are rare with a curious three year old. How many more years before he learns to unlock the bathroom door?

I think it is a sweet experience. He is learning how important prayer is. How much you rely on the Lord and he will know from your example who to turn to. He will know that his mother loved the Lord.
